Planning a party can be exciting – but it can also come with a million little questions. At Hay Jay’s Disco, we’ve made it easy for you to find all the answers in one place.

Whether you’re wondering what music we play, how far in advance to book, or how to add a glow-up effect to your event, our FAQs cover the most common questions we get from parents, schools, and event organisers.

Booking & Availability

How far in advance should I book my disco?

We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for weekends and school holidays, as these dates fill up quickly. A few months’ notice is ideal, but it’s always worth checking if we have last-minute availability.

How do I book?

Simply Click Here and fill out our online booking enquiry form or give us a call. We’ll confirm availability, talk through your requirements, and send you all the details to secure your date.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, a small deposit is required to secure your booking, with the balance due before or on the day of the event.

Party Details

How long is each disco?

Our standard packages are 2 hours long, which includes a short break for food or cake during birthday parties. Extra hours can be added for £50 per hour.

What music do you play?

We play a mix of the latest hits, party classics, and any special requests you have. Each playlist is tailored to the age group and style of the event.

Do you host games and activities?

Yes! Our hosted packages include guided dancing, competitions, singalongs, and interactive party games.

Equipment & Set-Up

What equipment do you bring?

We provide a full professional DJ set-up with high-quality sound and lighting. Some packages also include UV lights for an amazing glow effect.

How long does set-up take?

We allow 30–45 minutes before the event to set up, and a similar amount of time afterwards to pack away.

Do you need anything from the venue?

We’ll need access to a power supply and enough space to set up our equipment safely.

Extras & Add-Ons

Can I add extras to my package?

Absolutely! You can add a bubble machine to any package for extra fun, and our hosted discos can include medals and prizes for competitions.

Do you provide face painting?

We don’t provide face painting ourselves, but we highly recommend the talented Facepaint York team.

Travel & Safety

Do you travel outside of York?
Yes! We regularly travel to surrounding areas such as Harrogate, Selby, Malton, Thirsk and more. A small travel cost may apply depending on distance.
Are you DBS checked?

Yes, Hayley are the team are fully DBS checked for your peace of mind.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, we have full public liability insurance.

Is your equipment PAT safety tested?

Yes – all of our equipment undergoes annual Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) to ensure it meets safety standards and operates reliably at every event.
